EXOImage
EXOImage is a proprietary image database built in Filemaker for Bill Smith Group. Initially designed as an archive for researched images, it is now also a full workflow tool which aids in all aspects of the photo research and art buying processes. My role was to facilitate this transformation by designing all aspects of the interface and functionality, and then to oversee construction and subsequent revisions. The result is a relational database that is responsive and completely customizable.
Its main features include:
Automation:
- Batch record and folder create
- Batch image upload
- Automatic metadata (IPTC) extraction from image files
- Automated message and request delivery to system users, image vendors, and clients
Metadata:
- Store low-resolution and high-resolution images, to be displayed along image information
- Spec level information such as reuses, status, page, size, and placement
- Image level information such as caption, credit, license type, cost, ethnic/gender breakdown, and rights clearance data
Client interface via the web:
- Image selection and commenting
- Real time data display
- Real time reports
